Introduction to Knifemaking (by stock removal)
This course cover instruction in:
- design,
- marking out,
- grinding,
- heat treatment,
- handles and guards,
- finishing and
- sharpening.
Introduction to Bladesmithing
There is nothing quite like a hand forged blade. This course will
teach you how to hand forge a blade as it has been done through the
ages with step by step instruction in
- design,
- steel selection,
- forging techniques,
- grinding,
- heat treatment,
- handles and guards,
- finishing and
- sharpening.
Cost
The cost is $850 which covers
- full tutorials,
- materials,
- use of tools,
- safety equipment,
- workshop consumables,
- insurance,
- morning and afternoon teas both days,
- lunch both days.
Time
Times are negotiable. A typical weekend is:
- Sat: 8am - 6pm
- Sun: 8am - 6pm
Keith prefers only 2 people per course as this maintains the highest
level of instruction and use of equipment. Participant need to wear
appropriate clothing and footwear. At the conclusion of each course the
participant will have crafted a unique handmade tool.
